• Annual Family Income: Should not exceed INR 3,50,000 (3.5 lakh) from all sources (parents/guardians).
• Income Certificate: Candidates must produce a valid income certificate as specified by the state/UT guidelines.

The NMMS consists of two main papers conducted on the same day:

5.1 Mental Ability Test (MAT)

• Focus: Logical reasoning, analytical thinking, problem-solving.
• Question Types: Series completion, analogy, classification, pattern perception, coding-decoding, hidden figures, etc.
• Level: Generally aligned with Class 7–8 mental ability/aptitude level.

5.2 Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

• Subjects: Mathematics, Science, Social Science (often includes basic English/Language in some states).
• Level: Aligned with Class 7–8 NCERT syllabi (or respective state board syllabus).
• Question Types: Multiple-choice questions testing conceptual understanding, application, and recall of facts.
• Note: Candidates should focus on NCERT or state board textbooks for core subjects and practice reasoning skills for MAT.

• While NMMS is primarily an open competitive exam with an income cap, states/UTs often follow reservation policies for SC/ST, OBC, or other categories.
• The number of scholarships allocated to each state/UT is proportionate to the total number of eligible students, but category-wise seat distribution can vary by local rules.

• Notification & Registration:
  • The State/UT Education Department releases the NMMS application notification.
  • Forms may be filled online (through state portals or the National Scholarship Portal) or offline via designated centers.
• Required Documents:
  • Income certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), Class 7 mark sheet, proof of enrollment in Class 8, etc.
• Fees:
  • A minimal application fee may be charged in some states, while others offer it free.

• Admit Card:

• Exam Day Conduct:
